I think the point is, is that this is "frivolous" spending. If they gave the grant to the NSF, they should have spent it more responsibly.

You can't disable physx, you can only switch it to low which does not help. It does not help with disabling Xfire either. The only think that makes the game playable is oddly turning hyperthreading off.
