I used to work at a school that is in the A-Sun Conference (same as FGCU). I've never seen more gray hairs in a 4,000 seat gym for a basketball game than I have at Alico Arena. They have a wealthy, elderly fan base that is going to do whatever it can to make that school a success in athletics.
