I think it’s just a bad show, mate.
I think it’s just a bad show, mate.
I really liked the animated flick they did on Netflix too. Not world changing but fun and self contained.
I doubt it’s just American audiences being dumb that people are mad at the baffling choices the series has made. The show is frequently a total slog and when it departs from the actual text, nearly unwatchable. They do one or two episodes a season that follow the book really well, and those are great! It’s just when…
Honestly I just wish Netflix (and all the other studios, streamers, etc.) would just let shit breathe for god sakes. Season 3 part 2 just dropped, people have other shows to watch, jobs to go to, etc. we didn’t watch part 1 until 2 weeks before part 2 dropped.
I mean, are they not watching their own show? The story this season is absolute nonsense. No one cares about the Witcher to see large-scale political intrigue. We watch the Witcher because we want to see someone fighting monsters and solving problems on an episode-by-episode basis. Having the Witcher be this weird…
So Americans are too dumb to understand the plot they wanted, so they dumbed it down, and people aren't watching, and his excuse is that the audience is still too stupid to understand? His Warsaw Uprising example was so uncomplicated, but that's too much for people? Make a good show, and people will watch or they…
FWIW I think the overall writing quality of Witcher stuff goes about like this:
1: The short stories
2: Witcher 3
3: Witcher 2
4: The novels
5: Witcher 1
I mean, it’s really as simple as “season 2 was bad, blood origin was TERRRIBLE, and season 3, while better, didn’t really fix the main problems introduced in season 2.”
This is some twisty logic. Viewership is dropping off because you had to dumb it down for Americans? If that were true then doesn’t that at least imply that viewership would drop elsewhere, but NOT in the US? And yet.. here we are.
Sounds like you’re just bad at whatever it was you were attempting to do.
So he’s worried that US viewers won’t want to watch complex storylines but still includes them in a dumbed down form instead of going back to the violence, monster killing, nudity and fucking of season 1. What a moron.
the decision to simplify plot points like The Witcher’s expansive geopolitics is often “necessary” when “a series is made for a huge mass of viewers, with different experiences, from different parts of the world, and a large part of them are Americans.”
Apparently this guy never heard of a whole joke series devoted to those of Polish decent.
I mean, even your own lead actor even left the series. Henry Cavill leaving the series was a major sign that season 3 really had to be dog shit.
“When the first part of The Witcher season three’s final season premiered on Netflix”
“The audience shrunk because we had to make the writing shittier to appeal to a broader audience.”
I mean, I’m in my 40s and I couldn’t understand the politics because the show offers absolutely zero context to what’s going on. I guess Nilfgard is bad, but that’s never explicitly shown why, or why they started a war, or any of that.
Anyone who has seen Mel Brooks’s The Producers knows that producers can make money even with poor audience reception from something as offensive as “Springtime For Hitler”.
Season two had a lot less Anya Chalotra. These things are important.
I mean, I do see his point, although I am not sure that is the reason the show is failing. I for one didn’t watch the show because of how different it was than the books, which sounds like the reasoning for it to get more viewers. If in an attempt to get more viewers, which is not guaranteed, you are also losing…
That is absolutely a load of bs... short attention spans?? I fell off because Season 2 was not as compelling, and Henry Cavill is not returning for Season 4... so what’s the point?
