In 2020, despite bungling damn near every last thing he did (other than nominate SCOTUS Justices off of the cheat sheet he got from the FedSoc) he still received more votes than any other Republican in history—an election in which Joe Biden won the electoral college (i.e., what actually determines who becomes

Donald Trump hasn’t won an election since 2016.

I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I doubt Trump would just walk into a diner with regular peasants already in there.

Of course Hillary was right to call them deplorables. You just can’t say that shit out loud because let’s face it, elitism doesn’t poll well, even among people who agree with her. As liberals we don’t like to publicly admit we think we’re better than anyone else.

When he said “food for everyone”, I mean...there was actual food at the restaurant for everyone!

Although “food for everyone” is sort of a vague declaration, still, shouldn’t imply it if you’re not going to deliver, but then again look who we’re talking about here.

This is a Textbook grifter move. I bet a lot of those diner folks will still call him a class act because he offered.

Maybe he thought Mexico would pay for it.

“[T]he man is as bad at politics as Trump is at business.”

For most of the true believers, it’s the same reason bullies attract hangers-on who follow them around. He hates and attacks the people they hate and want attacked, which makes them feel better about their world. It’s also why they’ll go to their graves denying his election loses and misfortunes. They can’t accept

Cue the, “I told my assistant to take care of it and it’s their fault for not doing it.”

Deplorable is the perfect word to describe these miserable people. I’ve never seen a more miserable (agrieved, angry, visibily unhappy) crowd in my life. Right after Clinton made her comment, I was in the grocery store and an older woman came in wearing a shirt that said “Proud Deplorable” - and man was she a bitter,

I’m guessing that’s exactly what he was counting on.

I don’t think everyone was there for him. To me it read he offered this to all diners at the restaurant.

Well, these are people who voluntarily went to meet Trump at a diner. They probably would have been disappointed if he didn’t do something super-tacky and on-brand like ducking the check.

Maybe he expected the restaurant to just comp everyone?

Sort of a good metaphor for his presidency.

Can we just agree that anyone that shows up to celebrate Donald Trump’s birthday deserves the grift?

The fact that some people think this loser is sent directly by God to save America blows my mind and makes me feel like maybe Clinton was right when she made her ill-fated “deplorable” comment.

I would bet the majority of Trump voters thought he was scum or at least knew he was a “successful” guy because he lied,
