Same here. I’m an Independent, but really a default Democrat even though I am not a fan of most of them. I can’t imagine a scenario going forward where I would vote for a Republican after what the party has become (and is only getting worse). They’ve been bad for a while, but their very real lunacy has reached levels

To be fair, most of them are unhinged, racist, Trumpers at this point.

I’m fairly sure Trump could publicly read The Communist Manifesto word-for-word and Republicans would eat it up.

What is this guy commuting in, a tank?

He’s a Republican. So that automatically means he is both full of shit and a liar.  No need to make it a mystery.

1. I’m OK with paying more taxes if the government, elected by the people, deems it necessary.

What do you say to a person who doesn’t realize by the time they’re an adult that this kind of slippery slope bullshit is utter fallacy?

Per NPR this morning, “The tax proposal would apply to just about 700 taxpayers.” Unless you are one of those 700 I wouldn’t be too worried.

He trades his cars every 18mo

If he was working in an assembly plant, I don’t think he’d have the attitude of not getting up from his desk to go assemble things. That’s the point. He was hired to sit at a desk. Not hired to pick up dangerous work he is not trained to do because his management couldn’t keep the labor happy.

It’s likely true in high-vaccination areas. The vaccinated will make up a large proportion of the people needing hospitalization, simply because there’s a lot of vaccinated people. But the total number of people hospitalized will be low compared to low-vaccination areas.

The general mindset of conservatives is that no problem is a problem at all until it affects them personally.  Out of sight, out of mind…

Oh sure all 50. How's that electricity treatin ya? And the abortion bills. And fistfighting teachers cuz they wore a mask. And removing slavery from the schoolbooks. Yep. All 50.

Did any of these jerks take handouts from the government in 2020 due to “sales slowdowns” before the sales booms? I agree that the way they are handling this looks pretty bad.

Analogies are hard... Obviously cars and immune systems are not completely equivalent. But this is a car blog. Car-based analogies should be expected, even if they aren’t perfect (which no analogy ever can be, because they’re analogous to something else).

Yeah, imagine if being near someone who was in a crash could cause you to involuntarily crash your own car. And there were simple, cheap things you could do to prevent car crashes almost entirely.

True but in more severe accidents the old car may look okay but the squishy bits inside may not be so good

“Cars are the best way to ___________.”

I mean, when you sell your product as the “Autopilot” and the “Full Self Driving” that’s going to be in forever beta for your car, it’s a bitch when anything happens.

And yeah, it definitely feels weird putting so much trust into a drug company (Moderna in my case), but then I read about how vaccines for coronaviruses have been in the works since SARS, and how mRNA vaccines have been in the works for some time, and my apprehensions were definitely allayed
