Although most of these options are great, my advice is people should do their best or better to plan ahead and have a back up plan, because people I know that usually end up in these situations are very poor at planning.

This is where I miss DC where most of the museums are always free. And the Crime Museum kind of blows but for free it's all right. I'd recommend the Newseum over it, it's way bigger than Crime and far better than it sounds.
