I love snowstorms under the following conditions:

It wasn’t the snow. It was the ice. The reason that so many people got trapped last night here in DC was because the temp hovered around 32F/0C. So, the streets kept freezing. Black ice. It was treacherous.

I love Chris Hadfield’s cover of Space Oddity. And truly a magnificant backdrop.

He’s back. Heh heh.

90% of my problem-solving occurs in the shower.

My wife and I have gone wine tasting at many places around the world (including Nogalas, Arizona). We’re far from snobs but we do know what we like and can describe it, which is, I think, a goal to have for new oenophiles (don’t worry, I had to look up that word).

I actually think this is a great idea. I know myself pretty well. But I’ve spent time exploring, like for decades. I’ve even taken classes on how to deal with “difficult people.” I have learned to listen to others so I can determine what’s important to them. And I know my own prime directive: I want to be heard.

Can these be done in Yosemite?

Uh, why would I want to?

That is a good alternative, although it’s a little awkward. Is there a better way to say it without someone going, “Uh, what do you mean?”

I’m not a Verizon Wireless customer but I am a Verizon FiOS customer. Will this work for me? (Not interested in the extra data of course.)

We have a detente. He doesn’t speak to me and we ignore him. Small minds breed small ideas (or no ideas).

But wait, there’s more. A year later (yes, a year), I was walking by his house and he started yelling at me all over again. This time I told him to grow up. Our other neighbor went to school with this gent and he told me that my neighbor wanted to go back to the 1960s when life was better. This guy doesn’t do history

I live in one of the most Democrat precincts in our part of the world. In 2004 I put up a Kerry sign. It was the first time my wife and I did that, we were so unanamoured with the Bush administration. It just so happens that I live right next door to an irrational conservative. I had placed the sign on my property but

I never pulled an all-nighter in college. I was always done with my reading at least one week before each exam. My executive functioning skills are off the map. Of course, the sheer fear of failing was the prolific incentive I had.

Empathy is a very interesting thing. It’s selfless to a certain extent. It means focusing on the other person. Sympathy is different and more akin to what is being discussed here. A sympathetic person may say to themselves, “how would [or how did] I deal with that?” An empathetic response would be: what can I do for

This is a true story. Last week, as I walked to my office, an old crone passed me and said, “Pheh to you and your decendants!” I think I was cursed. And everything went downhill from there.

One reason to buy at Costco is to support their treatment of their workers. They pay good wages and offer benefits.

Honda has been on the top of the list for years.

Me too.
