That's all nice, I guess, but if Final Fantasy isn't going to be Final Fantasy anymore (and face it; it hasn't been since like IX or so), then I hope something else will be Final Fantasy while this becomes Square's attempt to be some weird Japanese version of "Western" gaming. If I wanna play Far Cry, I'll play

Actually, I guess I've just lost touch with what "Final Fantasy" is after 20 years, because they all look kind of stupid to me.

Hm, the guy with the hat and fishing rod does not look like how I'd typically picture "amazing..."

Yeah, that could be too.

I'm sorry. I'm not sure I meant it to be shitty or judgy, but I guess maybe it was. I just think it's a shame to put career before love, probably based upon my own insecurity about career! It was more a statement about capitalism/money/etc.

Shame to put career above the person you think is "the one," but maybe that means you didn't actually think she was.

What a bunch of whiners. It looks fine to me.

I miss my old stuff...

These are great! Thought it would be fancy new games I don't care about, but nope—I knew every single one!

Dang, you missed out!! Not that it was necessary (the SNES version only had a little manual), but it was pretty neat.

Yeah, I think even Will Wright had left long ago.

I have a feeling Elder Scrolls V will be pretty crazy and will hopefully give you what you crave!

You beat me to it! I just wrote like the same thing before reading this.

That's how I felt when Daggerfall came out in like 1995. Holy moly did I think that was going to be everything possible in game form. Great game, but yeah, not what they seemed to be promising. (Granted I was 13.)

I think it was an issue of not being able to get enough characters on-screen at once to have a war. There were some "big battles" in Oblivion, but it was like 10-15 characters on-screen, and it brought consoles and current-gen (2006) PCs to stuttering framerates.

Nearly all the Scrolls games talk up great battles, but you never actually get to fight one. Now there's a Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms mod to change that.

See? Lots of good things have come from Kickstarter.

It's a real shame that Maxis will mostly only be remember for SimCity, The Sims and (sort of unfortunately) Spore. They did so much back in the early '90s besides just SimCity.

Do you remember the giant manual that SimAnt came with? Brought that to school with me every day. I learned more about ants that year than anything else thanks to SimAnt. :)

I dno about inventing the RTS genre (Westwood and Blizzard kind of did that, but even they arguably didn't invent it), but yeah, Ensemble definitely did get ruined.
