I think it just speaks to the fact that so many critics tend to harbor unrequited screenwriting aspirations (myself included) and comes across as too clever for the room (see also: fan edits).
I think Bill Simmons has help propagate the myth of what Len Bias could have been. The last 30 years of the NBA has had exactly 2 sure thing lottery picks: Tim Duncan and LeBron James. Everyone else is a crap shoot.
God I hate the "I would have done this differently" critical mentality.
I was a big fan of DMB like 15 years ago, and the summer concerts around here were full of hot college ass. That's all I've got.
There's a Hastings about 35 miles from here.
I generally give the Whovians a little more leeway. The Browncoats, though, can never be forgiven for using the in-universe slang.
Tairy Greene said it best.
Is that Plinkett crap considered a Cinema Sin review? Because even if he's right, I can' sit through that shit.
Music is free on the radio! I can record it and sell it to my friends!
Come on, man, even people that support Aereo have to realize the whole "leased antenna" thing was a ginormous loophole.
Again, I work for 2 local affiliates and understand the delicate dance that requires the exchanging of money. Re-transmission fees are what the entire OTA/cable relationship is built on. Whether the progressives on the internet want to believe it or not, local channels are an important part of pay-TV packages, and…
Why doesn't anyone understand the basic concept of re-transmission?
FREE for individuals, not for a middleman to deliver it to you at a cost. If you want to go buy your own antenna and DVR for personal use, that's fair use and that's fine. That case has already been settled. But if you want to start a business wherein you take someone's advertiser-supported content for free—be it TV,…
Your wild speculation at the end notwithstanding, Aereo was only willing and able to undercut the competition because they didn't have to pay for the rights to the affiliates' content. Business becomes much easier when you don't have to worry about huge chunks of overhead.
Lots of your argument reminds me of the reasoning people use to justify the piracy of music. "You get more people exposed to it and that can only drive up sales!" Come on.
As a fellow TV station employee, I feel your pain about not being able to stream things.
I don't know much about Aereo's technical specs, but I'd always assumed the individual antennas were just a wink-wink sorta deal.
Is "Last Week Tonight" essential viewing yet? Because I haven't watched since the first episode.
The most frustrating aspect of this run of the series is how much everything from 2007 on is just a big mush to me. Everything from the last 7 years could have happened yesterday as far as my brain is concerned.
