The only thing I can think of that was that no-frills is probably the (fittingly) late-'90s Microsoft Comic Chat, aka image generator for the webcomic Jerkcity. A brief look around online suggests there were and are attempts to get similar projects off the ground, though pretty much only smaller or independent

Very late to this thread, but I had played through the first 3 chapters when they were being released via the Dream Machine website only. Loved it and the developers' blog was/is great, but forgot about it for a while. Really glad to know this project's alive, kicking, and on Steam!

Dinosaurs and Jesus were my immediate thoughts! Pyramid building and the Roanoke colony, too. Probably also some portions of my parents/grandparents' lives prior to mine.

L.A. Story was something I always watched (albeit the TV edit) when it seemed to be running endlessly on Comedy Central as a teen. Whenever I've revisited it over the years, different parts have resonated more or honestly maybe worked a little less; but "O pointy birds" and that painting scene are always hilarious

Old in the "I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was" way (and the occasional "awkwardness while an attendee decides to showboat during a panel", but then again, that can happen at any age). Plus, they were sharing the con center with an antiquarian and collectible book and paper fair that I also

How is Youmacon (or any other anime/Japanese pop culture con that you know of) for manga or art books? And what're the main demographics? I've been way out of the anime loop for a while, but still pick up manga and the occasional game, and think some of the Youmacon panels sound like they were interesting. And I felt

…Trin Tragula?

Faux queen?

Yes!!! One of the nearby community colleges had a Hypercard (2.0? probably?) intro class for kids that I took. iirc, I kludged together a tiny maze with a couple hidden rooms that attempted to hint at some elaborate back story. There was also a row of kids that all knew each other that made some sort of fighting game,

Any comedy albums and interviews or discussions with Maria Bamford.

Urgh, sounds painful. Even if Master Chef's backed off it, I wonder if that's often part of reality show contestants' contracts now, or if it's just recognized as easy screentime assurance. One earlier MC episode I saw had kitchen equipment sponsors, but other than voiceovers and quick closeups, it didn't seem overly

Forever late to this thread, but I finally found a browser game I'd been looking for a couple weeks ago that Hack 'n' Slash's premise reminded me of: Untrusted. It's text and ASCII graphics, and your editing is limited to specific blocks of (Javascript) code. It's also not very hand-hold-y, and I think you'd need some

Damn. RIP.

Wow, thanks very much for this comment. Ah, I definitely put time and tears into figuring things out, and booze was mixed into a couple coming out occasions… I don't know about having a handle on it, but, honestly, thank you for reminding me of some things that are easy to lose sight of with an emotionally-charged

Thanks for the support and suggestion :) It really means a lot to read that someone else "gets it".

So… I'm bi, but only dated a couple men before dating and marrying my husband (I have a couple fumbled attempts to flirt, more embarrassingly unintentional skeeving-outs than I care to admit, and an out-of-the-blue but seemingly sincere kiss from a stranger as far as women go). I'm out to my husband and some friends

Besides adventure games backseat driving and controller passing when a game got too hard or scary, RPGs with choices often got someone else offering suggestions at my house. Trying to reason out who to put on what instrument in FFVIII got a lot of "how do you even start to guess" reactions.

Grew up doing adventure games with family and, later on, friends and roommates. Recently played a couple rounds of The Yawhg with family, which was fantastic. But it's been a while since there's been time and occasion to multiplayer a classic-style hours-long adventure game.

That, too. But now I can't help imagine that somewhere deep in the Lucasfilm archives is a CGI Guinness render that Lucas was kicking about for another re-release prior to selling (and Disney now assures him daily they have top men working on it)…
