A tad dated and obscure now. But David Warner voiced Jon Irenicus, the main antagonist in Baldur's Gate II. Aside from the great gameplay and look, his cut scenes wiped away all the eye rolling yet beloved cheese of the ongoing voice acting in the game. I still count his ongoing monologuing to be one of the best.

this all sure lines up perfectly and delivers a nice package of irony, jaw dropping details and (as you cued record scratch trope) a moment where a lovable golden lab tilts its head with a dubbed Scooby-Astro like, 'Uurr!?'. Curious how long till we see this amidst those site recants and "what was fake on the internet

Me too, and I remember watching it a few times and sometimes it would rerun and I'd think, "ooh a new one!", but it was the premiere again. I lived their opening theme. I recall Chinese characters floating above their heads when discussing plans or being mad as if to remind us of their being Chinese.

Oh shit... That honestly made me shudder and feel dread. Not sure why. Maybe the whole "upgrading" intellect with familiar and relatable creatures offers comfort and allows for fun speculation but the "move-eat-live-breed" mind of a simple creature suddenly wanting and deciding is awful
