It has nothing to do with it being a diesel. My diesel pickup truck can out accelerate most cars off the line, and all but the sportiest cars from 0-60. I can smoke all 4 tires off the line and hit 60 mph in under 6 seconds. Some of the fastest production cars ever made sport diesel engines.

Right, but this is possible with any input device. Theoretically you could even do this on old PS/2 keyboards. It may not have been as easy, but still quite possible.
