This cost of living thing is actually coming into play with my current job hunt. I am currently working in Silicon Valley, and am actually trying to get out of the area for a little while. My problem is that I currently have 3 roommates to split housing costs. No matter where I go, the cost of living will actually…
Part of my college job was assigning viewing rooms (really fancy rooms with projection systems and nice sound systems) in our library to classes as professors requested them. The standard naming convention of most classes in the school was to just use the first three letters of the subject, and then the class number.…
What I find more interesting is that the warning only appears (or doesn't appear?) in certain applications. When I try to Max the volume in Pandora, it appears. When I try to max the volume in Waze, no popup.
Current amount of body roll, along with the expected limits of the vehicle. This could be great for off-roading, as well as just taking sharp turns at speed.
This story helps back me up when I say that no matter what, you need a friend with a truck. They could have flipped you, and towed you until you at least got to a road to then use a real tow truck. The tow truck would have never known what broke you down.
This is still my favorite, and has lasted through a couple phones now. That and you can transfer it to other cars easily and use it with your friends' phones.
Shoot, I did the phone mount that Lifehacker featured a little while ago with only supplies I was able to find in my office. So it was essentially free.
Every car I've had before the one I drive right now has had automatic lights. I leave my lights on all the time because I consistently forget to turn them on if I don't. That and my car turns off the lights if you hit the lock button twice, so it is never really a worry.
That back door seems really small.
Ahh. I must have read it from someone that ripped the show off, or vice versa.
Honestly, the true ideal is to not have your company take any taxes out, but take them out yourself and put it in a savings account for the year. When the year ends, you have made interest off of that money, and you just pay the same amount of taxes you would have anyway, but now that money has made you money.
After all the noise about the UAV getting hacked to land in Iran and the live videos from the UAVs being streamed unencrypted a couple years ago, I highly doubt it is that easy to hack into the wireless signal. I could see some GPS spoofing being done again, but that is unlikely as well.
As I said somewhere else, drones currently have attack weaponry, not defense. The difference being, it is really easy to line up a specified target and take it out, given you have the intel on said target. There is a problem created when something starts to attack you, and you have to discern where the threat is…
I remember reading a story a ways back about some "future" society fighting a war. The two different countries just "went to war" by having their computers fight it out. They ran a giant simulation and would attack each other here and there using a virtual world. If your area of the city got bombed, and you died, you…
The problem I see with remotely controlled combat vehicles is, just like video games, latency. No matter how fast you make the computer systems on board, we are limited by the speed of light in order to transfer the information from the vehicle. This is why the UAVs we have aren't built for dog-fighting. Sure, they…
Yeah, after thinking it through a bit more I realized that it is highly unlikely they just send one of these trucks along by itself. It will probably be part of a convoy, and in that case, there will be armed personnel in some of the vehicles in that convoy.
So we are finally starting to (publicly) see the results of the DARPA Autonomous Car challenges.
I love that they add the wheels in there too, so you know roughly where they will be placed. This also looks like there is a bit of the video stored to be played back as you move over the land, because I doubt they have the cameras mounted behind the wheels...
