Hey, c'mon…it seems as if the (British) team behind this has respect for it, casting good, solid British actors with good credentials and giving it a sort of "timeless" look (although it takes place in the modern era, they've tried to recreate the former look of Paddington Station).

There's an interesting little moment at the very beginning of the 1997 version for Showtime.
