Too bad Rock Hudson’s no longer with us....
On the one hand, this does feel like it has the whiff of a hit piece, however self-conscious it is of being one and thoughtful it is about it.
Whenever this subject comes up I have to detail the MANY age-inappropriate movies I was taken to as a child (10 or younger), including but not limited to such delightful fare as Saturday Night Fever, Carrie, Raging Bull, and Pretty Baby, which was literally a movie about a child prostitute featuring Brooke Shields.
The video has created a firestorm, in which opportunists like Donald Trump Jr. were quick to defend Clinton, while others wondered what she was even doing at the vigil in the first place.
I love the Mitfords so much. Well; I love the *idea* of the Mitfords; individual Mitfords may vary. Jessica wasn’t perfect, but she had what my mom would call “good politics” and she was very funny and smart (and also a local; Molly Ivins bummed at cigarette off my mom at her public memorial service in 1996).
It was stupid. I don’t remember being banned from watching anything in particular as a child, but as I’ve mentioned before I grew up in San Francisco in the 70s with ex-Beatnik parents and there was not a lot of discipline or rules. I fondly remember watching Soap when I was 9 or so, after we got a little black and…
Jade’s a lovely name.
I’m so sorry. I miss my mother every day too; it will be 15 years for me in August.
I’ve forgiven my dad (who died in 2007) for being a kind of crappy father, but I can’t imagine forgiving sexual abuse. That’s not meant as a judgment of O’Donnell - do what you need to do and I obviously don’t know what that sort of betrayal is like, so I’m not going to judge. I guess in my mind it just totally rips…
It’s hard to let go of your worry as well (which is probably tied up in ego; love is complicated). I am firmly on the fence between condemning these parents and kind of getting it in a weird way, though I think they took their actions to an extreme that was ill-advised on several fronts.
I think there’s a difference between “wanting someone dead” and thinking it’s appropriate for the state to carry a deliberate, cold-blooded murder. When the loss is personal and/or the crime is particularly heinous, it’s normal and human to want vengeance. But justice isn’t vengeance, which is why the court decides…
My mother died in 2004 and if there is any good in that, it’s that she’s not having to live through this shitshow with the rest of us. She would’ve hated it so much.
I thought she was in rehab? Though I heard about her husband assaulting her, as well.
Ugh, I hated Alateen.
Why’d he do it? I’m guessing some combination of:
I have five too! As mentioned in a previous post, one of them is super-loud. The two tabby sisters usually just meow when they want to be fed; it’s irritating but not unbearable.
My oldest cat virtually SCREAMS. She does it when she wants food and when she wants attention. The food thing is annoying, especially in the morning, if I’m not ready to get up yet. But the attention thing is even worse because she will caterwaul from another floor but refuse to come when I call her most of the time.…
I looked it up and Aquilino appears to be correct. (For some reason, maybe because of the Aquino mistype, I was expecting her to be a Filipina but she just looks like a basic white chick.)
The only thing that affects my desire to eat is the stomach flu. :-(
I’m just caught up in the math - does that mean that he has a two-hour dinner every day?
