With all due respect, if this is satire, it’s very poorly done. Most readers of this site are educated, bright, and quite humorous. If this was even a moderately well-written satire piece, more readers would have realized it.

Is that what was decided after the intended narrative didn’t catch on? LOL nice try.

Daisy! Don’t cry! Everyone in the comments supports them! :)

I have a disease that makes my legs look like tree trunks and I can only barely wear jeans. Maxi dresses are the only thing that hides them and makes me feel pretty and normal. :(

I have a gorgeous navy jersey one that hasn’t pilled at all. Some fabrics are better than others. It may be a bamboo jersey, I don’t remember right now.
I love maxi dresses. Love them. And maxi skirts. Jersery ones are my fave. I like to wear skirts and dresses in the summer but I hate my legs. It’s way harder to find

Does it feel to you like this is exactly the sort of article Jezebel used to tear apart?

Yes. The problem isn’t maxi dresses, it’s that there are too many poorly cut ones made of terrible fabric out there.

I love maxi dresses. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.

I love maxi dresses, and they look fucking awesome on me if I do say so myself (and I do).

How about we just let women wear whatever the fuck they feel comfortable in? Personally i’m not a fan of the maxi dress (I prefer knee-length dresses) but why does it matter that other women like to wear them?

All of those models look absolutely fine. Maxi dresses are comfortable, and they make me look tall. Though I will say, I don’t care for the cotton jersey types. They pill and look like shit after a couple washes.

I want that to be on Todd Akin’s tombstone.

Yeah, I’d venture to say those rapes were pretty fucking “legitimate.”

...of the 234 women recently rescued by the Nigerian army after being abducted by Boko Haram last year, a staggering number of them—214—are pregnant.

I’m hoping against hope that they offer abortions but that the spokesperson left them out to avoid controversy. :/

That’s a good question. Maybe if the girls are religious, it would never cross their minds. Maybe some/most pregnancies are too advanced for it to be an option. Maybe the aid agencies don’t want to publicize if there have been any. I sure hope any girls who want them can have them.

Well, there’s a big, fat wake-up call to anyone who doesn’t believe rape is a tool of war or that access to and control over one’s own reproductive care (including abortion) is a human right.

Mostly a flurry of middle fingers, obscenities and police officers, I’m guessing.

No, that’s a smile...something you’re probably not used to seeing on a woman.

Obama’s comic timing is amazing. I adore his deadpan snark delivery.
