Just give Emma Stone all the awards for her performances in Poor Things and The Curse. I mean... both are such intricate and committed performances, but in very different styles within very different productions. Astonishing, truly.

Yeah, calling this reviewer a MAGA something is not the mark of a fair critique. 

And rightfully so, b/c the war machine and late stage capitalism have made this country exponentially worse in the last 20 yrs. He was always right.  It’s just that many people in power or delusional to that destructive power did not know how to find him funny. 

It was hard to watch, yeah, because it reflected the steady decline this country and world took while he was trying to speak truth to power. I’m glad for him that he isn’t alive today to see what we’ve become. 

She should also get gold for her work in Poor Things. She’s astonishing in that film while playing a very different type of character from Whitney in a completely different style of acting. She fucking rules.

1990 audiences just didn’t care about it all that much and didn’t reflexively view better off people as insidious and inherently unsympathetic, so the movie doesn’t stop to address income inequality and apologize for the McAllisters the way the movie would if it were made today.
