More experienced people would know you don’t leave a boat that’s not sinking.

I can’t figure how an anchor would fail in shallow water unless it was user error.

This reads like the treatment to that Gilligan’s Island reboot I never knew I wanted.

I mean, there’s lots of stupidity in this story, but if the engine failed and a storm kicked up, what exactly were they supposed to do? Probably shouldn’t have panicked and swam to shore, but all in all, I don’t think it’s totally fair to blame the employees in this case. Could have happened to someone more experienced

Swam for 12 hours after his helicopter crashed.

^^This.

Dallara getting the contract does not mean there won’t be a new car soon. A new engine formula is coming in 2023, and a new car is coming in 2024 (although there are rumors it might get pushed back to 2025, which sucks). This announcement just confirms it will be made by Dallara.

sadly CART fell _because_ it wasn’t a spec car series, that and not having the Indy 500. costs were too high, revenues too low. being a spec car keeps the costs down across the board, allows the series to optimize the car for good close racing and prevents teams from modifying the cars in ways that would hurt the

I think it’s an absolute fucking nightmare. And I write about technology. We rented a car in Costa Rica and it was after the fifth time we tried to pass that I realized I was in ec0-mode, and took four days of serious contemplation to learn how it turns off. Of course it was a black button on the bottom of the

Agreed. The only issue I have is shifting into ACC mode using a push-button is annoying, especially when you want to turn just the engine off, but keep the radio on.

My 2018 F-150 has a turn key ignition. Love it

And, of course, let’s not forget about thousands of miles of leaky pipelines. Or piledriving ocean floors for oil rigs...which also leak. But those are totally ‘fine.’

question the impact that “pile-driving” the ocean floor and laying “thousands of miles of cable” may have on the ocean

Right? Just look at how pristine the Gulf Coast is. I’ll take Cape Cod over Galveston any day of the week.

And lets not forget that just two month ago a certain Texas senator was advocating for shipping migrants that cross the southern border to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket as a way to punish liberal communities*.

Few things Texas oil barons care more about than ocean wildlife and the well being of the citizens of New England.

It’s bad enough that the posh NIMBYs on the Cape and Islands are up in arms. Now, were adding climate-denying Texans to the mix? Ugh.
