He went purple-purple, probably to give his team a heart attack, and then backed off massively in the last sector, temporarily setting a fastest lap which allowed for Hamilton to easily beat it by 1.4s on fresh tyres.

Given that the reason this track is back on the calendar is because of the orange army you could have called the race the Max Verstappen Grand Prix and everyone would have understood. Max was just faster and did everything he had to in order to win the race and I’m not disappointed that the fans got what they wanted.

I think Bottas came in thinking he was going for the fasted lap - and maybe that was the thought until Hamilton was told to come in to also set the fast lap — but i thought once Bottas exited that Mercedes made clear he was not to try for a fast lap. He was going to do it anyway until he was explicitly told to abort..
