yeah you summed up the INSANE swings in quality quite nicely. I think that's probably why it's not remembered as universally great - it was definitely the best of the not-simpsons-but-trying shows of the time, but the absolute top tier episodes were weighed down by shit like THE SINCLAIRS SWITCH BABIES HILARITY ENSUES

I almost yelled "NO" the minute he appeared onscreen and I was so "ugh are we seriously going here" that I missed most of his first scene. hopefully we see less than as little of him as possible in the future!
