While we're talking spoilers (since these aren't harry potter and the entire population hasn't read them), one of my favourite bits of sneaky wording in the series (that I really only realized this year, and it's what made me start rereading them): "Volunteer Fire Department" can refer both to people that want to put

also, I found [SPOILER]'s death about a thousand times more affecting than I ever would have expected to. I still don't know how Handler pulled that off.

it's also a huge shitstorm of a narrative. WHY DOES 95% OF THE STORY HAPPEN IN THE SECOND HOUR

the harry potter/pokemon red and blue public bonfires were maybe my least favourite thing about the 90s, and I was like 8 when both happened

yeah, the final book is possibly my favourite in the series. I really liked that the second last book pulled out all the conventional finale stops, while the final book was much more of a thematic meditation on what it all meant.

I like how they snuck some pretty insanely dark and uncomfortable themes right under parent's noses and apart from the utterance of 'damn' in book two, didn't seem to ruffle any feathers from parent groups.

YES though be prepared for the first four books. What starts off as a pointed satire of painfully formulaic children's literature eventually shifts into a much more poignant story about mob mentality and moral relativism, but that only begins to set in around book five when Handler realized he was trapped writing

Brett Helquist is one of my favourite illustrators, so completely reasonable response I think

I don't suppose anyone wants to talk A Series of Unfortunate Events with me because my brother and I have been rereading them and HOLY SHIT.

and it's only about a thousandth as good as the book!

Story of Everest is maybe my favourite sketch in the history of sketch comedy.

wanted to see franco's dick, didn't. F-

the oogieloves is the peak of entertainment what are you TALKING about.

Limbo is really good, though don't go expecting much in terms of an ending. the journey is definitely the point because it doesn't so much end as run out of puzzles and stop going. I was waiting for more and kind of let down, but I'm able to appreciate the game more knowing that.

in grade 12 I wrote a play about a mystery-solving boy band breaking up. my drama teacher said it was the worst play he'd read in his career. it was awesome. there was a character named Justimberlake and a secretary lady named Derek, and the band members would apply for menial jobs - none of the band members had a

I don't like it, but this is a great way of putting it

this may have been brought up already, but who are everyone's mains in smash bros? I've got the best handle on Palutena so far. also, how are your hands doing? my right thumb has worn off

I didn't think I wanted smash bros. I just sunk four and a half hours into smash bros

I know I'm a FILTHY MILLENIAL so take this with a grain of gen x, but seinfeld is awful and based on this consensus I'm predisposed to love Mulaney

yeah! I had never actually seen 3 until reading this (avoided it because of the stigma) and it's what sold me on it
