Fob doesn’t work from my bathroom.  Nor does it work from the 8th floor of the building I work in.  And if they stop supporting the feature, I stop paying.  What part of this is so difficult for you to understand?

Well, I use the app all the time.  Everyone has different preferences and values things accordingly.  When it’s winter and I get out of the shower, it’s nice to remote start the car so it’s warm when I leave/has defrosted the windshield/etc.  (There are many other ways I use the app; that’s just one example.)

This is the exact same thing that happened in comic books in the 80's and 90's, with exactly the same result.  Those who refuse to learn etc.

And remote start/unlock via the keyfob should absolutely not require a subscription fee. The app requires a cloud back end even if you’re standing right next to the car, so yeah, a subscription service makes sense.
