I followed a similar trajectory to you...except then I decided to divorce my controlling, manipulative wife. Good news: I kept the house.  Bad news: pension go bye bye.

It’s honestly becoming more of an issue because modern 4K TVs do more and more processing of the image.  But it does sound odd that this one game in particular is such a problem.

Input lag is not uncommon on TVs; that’s why they have a game mode, which disables much of the processing, etc.
