Jackie Brown is a damn treasure and the best of his movies. Pam Grier and Robert Forster are unforgettable in that film. Anyone who disagrees can fight me.
Don’t worry. I’ve talked to Quentin about that, and he said the only place something like that would ever happen is in tired-as-fuck website comments.
The third one wasn’t Abrams :)
Hell, I’ll take Tarantino on a bad day over the best that Abrams can give. Tarantino, to paraphrase Roger Ebert, can certainly make a bad movie, but never a boring one. Abrams is just a peddler of mystery box entertainment, but like in the game show, most of the time what’s in the mystery box is crap.
Exactly! The current Trek films are so fucking fantastic—memorable and imaginatively conceived—I would be livid if someone swayed from the absolutely winning formula established by JJ Abrams. Just livid.
You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I can think of multiple actual human emotions conveyed in said films, best being any scene with Robert Forster and Pam Greir.
Apologies that we all forced you to click on this link and read the article.
Please forgive us all.
Excuse me sir, do you have some time to hear about our Lord and Saviour and his ten film limit?
Same here. I know a lot of folks on this site have issues with him (mainly due to his foot fetish and recent articles about Uma Thurman’s treatment) but in the end the guy is a talented director. Even if it’s a toss away I’d bet it’ll be better than the formulaic shit that is your usual Marvel film.
Did I mention he’s stopping after ten films?
40 years after Alien and 35 after Terminator casting a woman lead is a breakthrough because of “Internet commenters?” Just make a good movie, Tim and Mackenzie, and the rest will take care of itself.
I also thought it was strange that some of the critique here seems to find issue with the act being well rehearsed and a performance? I guess Chavez could mean that it was overly slick but i didn’t quite get that from her words. It feels overly cynical to use “this performance of emotion is less moving because it is a…
“Ansari seems content to hold up a mirror to everyone but himself.”
Site question: Why are stand up specials filed under TV when there is a comedy category?
As a warning to what, exactly?
The phrase “sexual misconduct” sounds more Orwellian every time I hear it. It sounds more and more like “sexual something.” He did something wrong, in a sexual sense. It wasn’t sexual assault. It was a sort of sexual infraction. He sexed badly. It was the wrong type of sexing. He badsexed.
Sounds like a real snooze fest. His act is stale and dated.
Because they got more viewers than other shows.
Jen Hickman is an amazing artist, and reason enough to check this book out.
