“just for stating a different view”
Thank you for putting this at the beginning instead of burying it.

So no mention of 12:01, the masterful short film that came before Groundhog Day, inspired it, and features Kurtwood ‘Clarence Boddiker’ Smith? Right.
It makes me sad what the AV Club has turned into.
It’s sad how folks hold a spiteful mob mentality and animosity towards Louis just for stating a different view (that he may not actually believe) during a comedic performance.. which is his profession I might add. Many of the people that judge this man negatively are indoctrinated by biased publications and systems…
It’s terrible this guy lost his kid. However, Louis’ joke wasn’t about that. It was about kids getting on TV and talking about policy they have no business talking about. Going through a tragedy does not give you ultimate insight into what this country needs to operate. Louis joke was not aimed at this guy, it was…
Wait. Did the audience pay to see that? Because there’s no way your dates gonna give you a handie after that. You basically just threw away $32.97 at the Outback for nothing.
Literally the only reason I know who Pete Davidson is is the coverage here.
Why is Judd Apatow so drawn to shitty comedians named Pete?
Xan’s response: “Those guys were Mormons and Buckely knew it.” had me rolling on the floor laughing. Number one joke in a season full of great ones.
I agree that the blindness thing was weird (and totally unnecessary to the story, like most of the most iffy/potentially offensive bits on the show).
I wasn’t, and I’m still not. You’re the one taking cheap shots. If you want to engage with me, I will respond in kind. If you want to flip lip and act snarky without offering anything other than petty bullshit, then I’ll happily troll you along until you get bored and leave. Old Puddinghead didn’t have to do that.…
As far as I know, Janeane’s big mistake recently was defending and still being friends with Louie. I don’t blame her or take issue with anything she said, it just came down to her taking Louie’s side on some recent podcast or something.
Sasheer Zamata.
Not defending the jokes here or arguing that Louis should be making a comeback any time soon, but do any of you know how successful, professional comedians work?
Naw we’re taking things literally now. It’s what we’re doing.
I guess? I more take exception to the person leaking the set out... I’ve heard a lot of comedians speak on it and they’re kind of in the mindset of “if people could only hear how poorly some of the jokes I was working on came off in their early stages.”
isn’t that the point of working on jokes, though? I watched Chris Rock bomb in a room of 6 people on a Monday night on the Upper West Side because he was literally just working on material. If I’m to understand correctly, that’s what Louis CK was doing with this set - working on new material. We kind of have to allow…
I know outrage pays your bills but you do realize this wasn’t a special right? It was a leaked set. Sets aren’t necessarily meant to be the final product, they're meant to be performed and reworked-usually by the comedians who write the jokes, not comedians jockeying for woke points. This was a month ago. Move on.
Calm down. It was only 14 hours.
How long is her set that she can spend almost 5 minutes of it pontificating on the Trouble With Louis with the least interesting take possible?
