@drhowarddrfine: It will be turned back on when our traffic backs off. We have been up for 2 years and have had huge spikes in the past from the news, WSJ, NY Times but nothing like this. Kudos to the massive audience that Life Hacker has built! #cellphones

@y0himba: Our API was temporarily turned off and that was the message you see so searching was not possible. It was hurting other map customers on the platform. We have our own API and it will be turned back on when our traffic backs off. #cellphones

@steelew: thanks for posting and yes we are bit embarrassed. I wish we would have been notified so we could have prepared accordingly with extra servers. We will turn the site on when our traffic backs off a bit. #cellphones

@SQLGuru: Yes we are embarrassed and will turn the map back on when our traffic backs off a bit. We can't handle 1000 searches per minute with our current server. #cellphones

@AmphetamineCrown: Right but if 2/3 of US homes are dead zones than mobile users need to know how to fix it with femtocells, wifi, or repeaters. Mobile phone users make calls 70% indoors. #cellphones

@AmphetamineCrown: A dead zone in our opinion is where you experience dropped calls routinely, congestion or no signal at all. Agree there are lots of factors. #cellphones

@Jeff Cohn: The message the API will be turned back on when the web site traffic volume gets back to normal. Sorry for the inconvenience. Sounds like a problem that Amazon AWS should be helping Urban Mapping with. #cellphones

@y0himba: That is incorrect we have been a customer for 2 years. It was shut down temporarily because Pushpin did not have the server capacity to handle the volume. #cellphones

We apologize for the inconvenience of the site going down yesterday. Our server could not handle the load which was 35,000 people yesterday. We normally have 1000 people per day coming to the site. Stay tuned it should be back up within a day or so. #cellphones
