This kind of shitty behavior from publishers needs to stop, and the only sure fire way for that to happen is to stop giving them money before they've proven that their product is worth it.

I was able to get my characters transferred, but don't have the weapons that are supposed to be available for doing so (or the weapons from the collectors edition that were also supposed to transfer). Exactly, it is like i-level for Wow. Nothing really odd or out of place about it as long as you understand the mechanic — which was totally transparent as soon as I hit 20 and saw a progress bar when hovering my cursor near "light" on the inventory screen.

I can only justify a preorder these days if the game is something that needs backing in order to actually happen. Even then, I find myself canceling just about every preorder I've made in the last year mere weeks before the game comes out so I can see reviews from several sources before I take the plunge.

But wouldn't putting it in higher gear slow the rate of acceleration and make it more comfortable, just like it does when you shift in a car? The lower gears, with their snappy response feel and overall excitement are the best gears to be in :)
