Two whole clicks was painful? It worked easy for me, and I'm stuck in IE8.

Here's my most sloppy mistake. I was wrapping up a deliverable...marketing flyers for our staff to hand out at trade shows. My boss's boss calls me and says "change this phone number to that phone number" yadda yadda before we print. I say "sure, no problem," write it down, and then got off track (probably went to

That's my plan. Thanks for the validation...I feel good about it.

That's exactly what I told my wife, in fact. I've been through that before, and it's very unpleasant.

Another nicely timed Lifehacker article, because I know my kid's Cub Scout Pack leader wants me to get much more involved in the running of the pack, with the idea that I'd take over some leadership role in the next couple of years. I don't want to. I really, really don't. I've been doing that kind of thing for a work

Shoot them in the head anyway, just to be sure.

I'm a big fan of this, but it doesn't seem like most of the people in our division share my enthusiasm. We've got SharePoint, which provides wikis and forums; we've got Office Communicator; we've got a decent VOIP system which allow ad hoc conferencing. But we're still stuck on email chains, plus then people get bent

Condescending?...hell no, you've given me some great food for thought, both restating things I'd been thinking in a new way and providing some ideas. I love this: "Management can insist on being in the loop of meeting goals and times, managers can see what meetings are scheduled by their employees or that their

Agreed with all, but I think that the larger issue is going to revolve around changing the psychology about meetings. We've tried setting up rules about agenda, notes, minutes, etc., and ultimately the rules always end up either just getting dropped or result in people just avoiding what could be useful meetings

Thanks for the links.

Like Cobra Island.

Interesting, and timely, because I just got slated to lead an effort (with an 18-MONTH timeframe) to "improve meetings and office communication."

Ahh, memories.

Agreed. I rolled my eyes at that...kind of wished the interviewer had thought to ask McCallum when he had stopped beating his wife afterward.

Nice, looks like a phone I could hang onto.

Not necessarily true. I wouldn't get the Apple product because I seriously dislike the Apple OS.

That's nice. The LG Ally released almost two years ago has 291ppi in a 3.2" screen. I've looked at it under a magnifying glass and I still can't see pixels. Poor forgotten phone...LG did an amazing job with the hardware, and it looks like they're probably doing the same with the Spectrum. I wonder if it's got Gorilla

True. We would notice that ours would perk up if we said "peanut butter" or mentioned some of our friends by name, even if we weren't addressing her. But I think we've almost always said her name before asking/telling her something.

Yeah, and a lot of blood was shed until we caught up. But what the hell, they're soldiers, that's what they're supposed to do, right?

Shed a lot of blood doing that catching up, too. But who cares, they're just soldiers, right?
