I can’t be the only one who thought of Savita Halappanavar when I read this. I know her case was in Ireland, not the U.S., but it’s the sort of fercockta cruelty on the part of the Catholic Church that doesn’t care if a pregnancy isn’t viable or if a woman dies because of it.

The huge tragedy is that this requires more than one sentence. If this country was sane about abortion, it would just be: “I have two kids, I got pregnant by accident, so I had an abortion” End of story. I think more stories like this are necessary, it’s just sad that they are so necessary.

I am glad to see more women are telling their stories. The fact is that having an abortion can greatly improve the quality of a person's life. Anti-choicers love to go for emotional responses, and I think that we pro-choicers need to learn the same in order to tell the narrative that affects so many women.
