Exactly my reaction. You don’t have to write roles specifically for black people in order to cast black people in them (or any other minorities). They are utterly oblivious to their white straight men are the default and any other combination needs to be specifically written.

He is both white and Hispanic. Hispanic isn’t a race, it’s an ethnicity. I know Hispanic people who are white, black and somewhere in between.

Right. As if casting a person of color in these roles would be like casting an alien or something. As if human beings don’t share many, many of the same kinds of experiences or have the same desires.

Also, it’s amazing how often people of color actually do have the same issues as white people.

I missed a flight out of Sea Tac last year and had to fly standby. Wouldn’t you know, after eight hours of waiting, I got a prime bulkhead seat. Only thing is, some guy was already sitting there—had moved up when he noticed it was empty. I let the flight attendant ask him to move, but when he stood I noticed that he

Three very charming, sexy people—I could not stop giggling like a 13 yo.

I take a different approach than the other person who responded to you.

I’m still trying to figure out how we go from “interviewing a victim about a crime” to “ten-hour booze fest with said victim.” Like, do we wrap up the interview with something like, “Thanks for your cooperation, ma’am. Wanna hang out?”

I doubt airlines will ever do this, but I wish they offered the option of buying a seat and a half. Maybe something like you say you would be willing to be charged half a seat price, but give up your option to choose your seat. Then if they find another person willing to do the same thing, they would seat you together

Wasn’t there a story floating around about a set of parents who wouldn’t deal with their unruly, young child on a plane, so the person who was being annoyed told the kid that Santa wasn’t real, had never been real, and that his parents had been lying to him about it.

Thank you, Madeleine.

“The NYPD does not have an obligation to train officers not to commit sexual assault because it is an obvious criminal act.”

This would never fucking happen on Benson’s watch.

My husband and I were on an early morning flight from California to Seattle on a weekday; it seemed to be mostly business travelers and everyone was super chill and being very quiet and respectful, like there was this tacit agreement among 100+ strangers that we were all going to get settled and take a nice little

Having been the fat person on a regional jet folding herself into plus size origami and nearly in tears worrying about encroaching on someone elses’ space: don’t be rude . You will survive . That “fat” person is probably twice as miserable as you are.

Yeah. I feel mean, but my first thought was 'dang, those some ugly babies.'

Those are some ugly ass babies. I love how Esme’s all like, “Fuck the fuck off, Scarlett,” and Evangline is basically a moustache-less William Howard Taft, with that featureless face and beady little eyes.

I liked A Baby Story. It was nice and not overly dramatic. I watched it every day when I was unemployed.

What’s sad is that in the US we are so jazzed about a ONE WEEK vacation while elsewhere in the world people take 3-6 weeks off at a time. :(

Imagine being told that if you worked hard just like your parents did you would get the same opportunities they would, so you go into life expecting that just by the sheer power of your effort you will succeed. Only now ten other people are vying for your job who grew up hearing the same thing.
