Honestly, I watch it now only for the correspondents. When I heard that the writers were staying after John Stewart, I thought that was wonderful. Now, I don’t know. The show is still funny, but I feel like I’m hearing Trevor imitating John. However, that does show me more than ever how brilliant the writers are.

I agree that the 1937 version was the best one. Frederic March was incredible as Norman Maine. But, I connected more with Judy Garland than Janet Gaynor (even though I think they went overboard with her musical numbers). I’m still miffed that she lost the Oscar to Grace Kelly.

I liked the movie, but all I could think about when I was watching it was A Beautiful Mind. The subject matter is different but it felt like both movies were made the same way if that makes sense? Basically a by-the-book Oscar bait movie.
