Ohhhh people complained plenty, though the criticism was similar to the one leveled at UKS—the problem was that Jack was always right, the show was secretly conservative (something mocked in the show itself, with Liz saying she’d secretly vote for McCain), Liz was a bad feminist, body issue stuff, “TGS Hates Women,”

Plus self-seriousness is a giant joke magnet, no matter how right you actually are.

“there's an 80 percent chance that I will tell my friends I’m voting for Barack Obama but will secretly vote for John McCain.”

I don’t think this episode was really mocking the girls, just pointing out that they’re young. Of course they’re full of BS…because they’re young. That’s just the way youth is. I was full of BS during my first year of college ten years ago, That’s not an indictment at all—that’s just the way being young is.

Yes yes yes—the eighties Bears references, the Tootsie Roll mention—more Chicago than I think most people realize. Also appreciated the running Spinoza references, too—between the Chicago stuff, the Spinoza stuff and the “let your first go” aspect this episode felt like it was made for me.

What's the problem, Lemon? They're just lumpy flowers.

Given my avatar I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the (still-living, so not eligible for this feature) Kiyoshi Kobayashi, who’s also been voicing Lupin III’s sidekick Jigen since 1969 (with one exception). And that 1969 role wasn’t any sort of regular aired Lupin outing but just a proof-of-concept pilot film, with

Not to mention all those Zhang Yimou arthouse (or arthouse-propaganda in the case of Hero) wuxia films.

I was going to mention xXx but that was 2002. But it was extremely very early 2000s (also, I think Nabin did the definitive xXx take at the late great Dissolve)

You win sex against a man, that’s as straight as it gets.

Honestly I’d be more interested in seeing a spoof of Trump’s doctor than anything else Trump related in Fey-Carlock world.

Well given Trump’s xenophobia (and, more pertinently, his hair’s thinness and lack of shine) it’s obvious that a Sabor de Soledad joke won’t work.

After he died, he was reincarnated as a dog who traveled through time for some reason.

Milwaukee, oddly enough, did see a delayed Great Migration largely because of the pull of Chicago, so Milwaukee’s black population would have only just started really growing during Happy Days’s time, though there was of course also a much smaller black community already there. Still hard to overstate just how

I am looking forward to that second thing, not the first.

I know clicks are clicks, but it’s like they want the worst possible people making comments (as opposed to us regulars, who are merely bad people).

I read this in a Mr. Poopybutthole voice.

My actual first response: “Wait, no, that’s not possible.”
