I think Jezebel gets a lot of ire because they try to use progressive feminism to dress up content that’s often kind of trashy tabloid level, like it’s a means of deflecting criticism rather than something that’s actually a deeply-held belief (of course it can be two things).

Sean once consoled me in the comments. It was nuts.

They’ve done some slimy shit but what Thiel managed to do was so horrible for survival of a free press that my emotions are not mixed at all.

I don’t think it will be replacement so much as adding, likely taking the site further from its original “reviews plus deep dives into pop culture” stance and further down the road of #HotTakes

SPOILERS FOR A SUB-FOUR MINUTE INTERNET VIDEO:

I’m doing okay—a bit of stress this summer, but overall things are looking up. I’m a bit on-and-off here now, too—nice that Trek can still bring everyone together.

And Ezri and Vic are kind of in competition with Nog, aren’t they? Hmm, time to rewatch “It’s Only a Paper Moon.”

The ever-escalating dramatic episode titling is funny in its own way, too—the writers sort of informally competed with each other to come up with the most over-the-top episode titles until Ronald D. Moore dropped Latin on them with “Inter Arma Enem Silent Leges.”

I hope not, but it tends to happen.

People forget that DS9 was probably the funniest (well, intentionally funniest) of the Trek series, too—there’s this slightly off-kilter sense of humor going through almost the entire show (full disclosure: I actually rewatched “In the Cards” on a lark last night).

I also like Vic.

I was just about to post this—Grodénchik almost went into the minors straight out of high school and had enough lingering muscle memory that the only way he could play poorly was by playing lefty (I remember my Dad catching that Rom was a lefty during the episode’s first airing and mentioning it made sense for the

I think this is actually the first time I’ve heard of one of these morning (quasi?) promotional newswire groups beforehand, and they are quite good.

I remember you—not anything you said specifically but generally being a reasonable and interesting person. I really wish there was something like a X is now Y guide for commenters.

@richelieu_jr:disqus! How are you?

So that’s the reason for the beard!

Everyone but Heston knowing that the film was dripping with homosexual subtext remains one of my absolute favorite old Hollywood stories.

It’s more an okay review but IV’s fine fine writing makes the movie sound irresistible.

Google Drive sounds perfect! I’d actually spent a while earlier this evening going through the old AVC account looking through, going to discussions and taking screencaps from interesting discussions, and before dinner copied-and-pasted all the comments I’d loaded so far in a text file. Thank you so much, @dirtside.
