The obstacles comment is directed at those who can be stopped/talked down and usually can move on with their lives after. Someone who truly wishes to end their life, they’re going to do it. There 2 types if you will.

It’s a pretty well documented thing that if there is something to prevent or even slow down the chance of someone taking their life, most people back down once a barrier is hit. It’s a short term, spur of the moment thing for most and many can walk away from it and get help if stopped at first.
