The novel the movie is based on is quite good, and not a young adult novel as mentioned in the review. I wish it were clearer if the reviewer had actually read the book cos I'm curious if it is a faithful adaption in general.
Agreed, I was just coming here to say I really liked the book (what I remember of it) and didn't think it was a YA novel at all. I get sad thinking of how it ended.
I love the avclub. Thanks for this year, looking forward to the next.
