The ft1 in person is stunning. People who haven’t seen it in real life don’t understand how big it was. It’s as much bigger than a Dodge viper as the viper is bigger than a Supra. Styling looks kinda like the supra so it tends to be thought of as a small sports car. But it’s giant in person. And gorgeous. Oddly I

Absolutely. People who haven’t owned modern diesels don’t realize how bad they really are. You can delete all the emissions equipment and try not to get caught. Or have constant problems. Or buy an old one.

They did what most fire departments do. Spend a shit ton of tax payer money for toys they never use and don’t need. Then they replace them at low miles rinse and repeat. (I sat on the board of a fire department for a couple years and saw it first hand).

Most vehicles are more reliable now. Diesels are the exception. They are far less reliable now. The emissions systems are incredibly complex, fragile, and expensive. They fail constantly and the repair costs are often tens of thousands of dollars. Most repairs on some models start with pulling the cab off. So you

If you gotta move big stuff, there’s not really another option. I’m over diesels. But if I need to move a backhoe or similar. The only real options to pull 20-25k lb trailers are diesels. Otherwise - the cost of constant repairs and long run costs on modern diesels are so high and the gas engines now last longer than

Yep. I bought a diesel f250 in January of last year. Sold it in November. 10 months. It’s not my first diesel. But likely my last. It was constantly broke down or in limp mode. I actually made money on it. Lol. But holy moly was it unreliable! And it was all emissions system related problems - but that still means a

900hp for a few minutes at 50psi at 10k RPMs between each rebuild? Sure.

I would say yes - the Michelins are probably better in snow in most cases. There’s a lot of different snow conditions though. It’s sort of like asking what kind of ski is the best. There’s not one answer to everything. But the Michelins will get you through pretty much any maintained winter road. And they’ll be great

I also like the at3s. I have them on my 4runner. I’ve used them for half a dozen Winters in Utah and Montana where I split time. I usually get to Moab 3-5 times a year and have taken them through the Rubicon and all over the trails around Durango/ouray areas. Basically - they do pretty well on anything but mud.

Not of you want to maximize the intensity of battery use and minimize emissions. PHEV is better at both tasks. In a battery constrained world, PHEV has the lowest emissions.

I know a few ski patrollers. The general rule everywhere is that they sweep the mountain at the end of the day and one part of the process is checking every lift to make sure the chairs are empty. Lifties are also supposed to radio the last chair and make sure the last rider gets off at the top. But apparently

Big sky resort in Montana left a couple ladies on a lift overnight and went home. It was an unseasonably warm night and they survived without major physical trauma. On a typical cold night in Montana at 10,000 feet - could have died. They were about 50' up, so too high to jump. That’s about the only thing I can think

The how to spend as lot of money making a Corvette slow. Seems like it's cheaper to just put a magnet under the gas pedal.

I think that'll happen just as a result of semi efficient markets. Probably Toyota and one or two others. I kinda doubt it'll be VW. although they sell in a lot of less developed markets, the vehicles are not the ones that'll be last to electrify. They don't meaningfully sell 4x4s. Not in volume. Toyota, Ford, and

Are we? Doesn’t look like it to me.

A lot of the planet exists outside of western Europe and North America.

I think it'll be like the jeep truck. In a year they'll be $10k off sticker. I see a lot of them sitting and not many driving around.

The software on this platform is soo bad. I constantly see oddball typos in my own text that I don’t get anywhere else. And words that get autocorrected. Like so to soo for no apparent reason as seen above.

The ZF isn’t a very good 8AT for HD use. That’s actually a great example. If it were the only 8AT us truck users would be replacing transmissions every 50k miles and not have options like Aisin transmissions that are so much better.

I don’t think the end of ICE is anywhere close. EVs are only viable in highly developed nations, and even there it’s still not viable for large portions of those countries. I’d guess we’ve got at least 30 years of ICE being the go-to for much of the world. But even if we were near the end - everyone already has a 2.0
