Agreed. They’re not sports cars. They’re not supposed to be. They’re vehicles that do a bunch of stuff, never give any headache, and cost little to own because of the high resale. And the RAV4 prime is fantastic - except for low availability. Not everyone wants to pretend they're track day driving on the daily

I’ve never gotten anything other than a suburban when renting a full size SUV. But for cars, I’ve had everything from a mustang GT for a economy rental and lots of Nissans. But I did end up in a traverse recently. It was a fine little SUV. The oddest one from GM was a Chevy spark - in South Africa. And we drove it all

    FJ Cruiser.

I like it. More evolutionary than revolutionary.

It was pretty obvious what you meant in context. I just didn’t read it very well. I’m the idiot with the snarky comment that doesn’t make sense because I didn’t read.

My guess is that it’ll look like an LC70. Boxy shape. Less curves. But still be a next gen Prado underneath. Lexus has been doing those concept off-road marketing models. Supposedly looking at going more that direction.

Do they use different parts to lower compression? Or what? Let’s use a 1GR for example. Ubiquitous engine all over the world. Sold throughout the Americas, Africa and Asia. What specifically do you think they change? I can pull the part numbers to compare. Point me in the right direction. I’ll go look.

Fwiw - I’ve inquired with Toyota Gibraltar about buying from them and importing. They will not sell to me unless I can prove a qualifying nonprofit and agree to only use in certain countries. I don’t think you can actually even buy one in Gibraltar from them. Just a name for the business entity.

    Agreed across the board.

In fairness - sort of... I guess... the early concept model did put down a 1:25 lap at willow springs with the same v6 and FWD setup. That’s faster than an R35 GT-R NISMO and Aventador LP750. But i’m not sure that concept suspension and tire package made past track day. It is kinda crazy that a v6 FWD avalon can put

LOL. That’s my bad. In normal forum use “HD truck” = Heavy Duty (2500/3500) series truck. Not Home Depot. Heavy Duty trucks are not always contractor spec penalty boxes. Many are very luxurious. Often more so than many luxury cars. Home Depot trucks at my local store are base model specs for sure. Although I have

So you hate a group of people? But it’s okay because it’s a group you don’t like.

On top of that the tune and defeat likely caused the loss of control from extra power.

The biggest hesitation I have in believing the rumor, although the source has been pretty reliable, is that when I looked through the specs and the breakdown of the design elements of the T24A There’s really nothing in it that says anything about a four-wheel drive version. When you look at The V35A, the design

As long as they don’t pull a Stelantis BS with it and have the vehicle move the shift dial on its own. I had a few thousand miles in a rental Ram truck and I absolutely hated that goddamn dial shifter. Not because of the dial. Because it would move its self to park at the worst time.

Articles like this are why I still come back to Jalopnik! Great work.

They’re being re-combined into a single base platform. So it’s reasonably likely that the only difference will be sheet metal in the next gen.

Best info I have from another pretty reliable source: T24A-FTS turbo 4 and turbo 4 hybrid will be the only powertrain options. 10 speed AT. And it should otherwise unify again on platform with all of the similar size siblings. Hilux, Prado 2xx, 4Runner, Fortuner, and possibly a Land Cruiser nameplate model for North

It’s still a fair assumption. You’re missing the forest looking at the trees. When was the last time you heard of a NA engine having problems because of 85? Ever? 85 and below is still sold all over the world. And their car still work. How do you explain that? If 85 octane were really as much of a problem as this

All those people leaving your state. Follow their moving trucks. They’re going where 85 octane is sold.
