Myth: you can’t stop faster in snow with 4x4.

I was going to say the biggest myth is outdated views on oils like transmission fluid. Today’s fluid easily handles 250*F. The old school charts would say charge it immediately. The target operating temps are now 200*F. 220 is common on basically all modern truck transmissions.

I don’t know about this one. I’ve never had a Toyota transmission fail - well not an automatic aisin one. Last one I changed fluid at 200k and that was kinda just to feel good about it. But I’d guess it would have run to the end of the vehicles life whatever that ends up being. Never had any issues with it. I’ve been

You just don’t really understand random probabilities. Not a lot of people do. (Large initial cohort + survivorship bias = wow this guy is really great!)

I think you’re right. I’ve been watching this play out with the question in mind of whether this is a housing bubble or a return to feudalism. I think the bubble is the far preferable alternative. If it’s not a bubble, American society will very fundamentally change. And not for the better. The fed has massively

It’s the uncomfortable end part where the serfs put the lord’s head on a stick that the developers might want to consider.

You wrote skill where the correct word was luck. Incidentally you also explained why it is luck in your comment, but I don't think you recognized it.

I’m curious how they view it. The 918 was over 30 seconds faster like 10 years ago.

Incidentally, the city is text book feudalism.

That used to be called feudalism. Unfortunately some of the signs look like we’re headed back towards that model of living. I think that’s a very bad thing for society in general. Fortunately European cities are waking up to this and prohibiting investor owned homes in cities. This is literally an investor owned city

In other news I'm opening a parking garage 0.26 miles away... We'll also offer a shuttle service!

Toyota bought Subaru. I’m not sure it’s still copying if Subaru is a sub brand of Toyota. I’d say the sincerest flattery was buying the company.

It’s kinda the original form too. A taller cabin is better for almost everyone and everything cars do. So it’s a natural evolution back to utility. The form follows function.

The Rav 4 PHEV ads about $6k, but then qualifies for $7500 tax benefit. If you can find one at MSRP... Lol. Not sure what the Jeep cost bump is. I think in a few years that price premium will come way down. Hybrids used to be a lot more $ and now they're less than $1k difference.

It sounded like the classic American view “toyota is boring and slow and won’t innovate.” I don’t think Toyota’s management style/culture is going to be disfavored by the slow conversion to more BEVs - not in the long run. I think a huge part of the reluctance of many to buy BEVs is the quality concerns with the

Pull through works if you’re only there for 1-2 minutes per fill up. To match the miles per time of a big gas station, you’d need literally on the order of 1,000 plus DC fast chargers. The pull through would end up being miles long or wide. So it’s probably a space issue. The charging stops would need to be sized like

Have you ever been to Japan? Honest question, because your comment belies an American who’s never been outside of the USA.

The BOF models will probably remain hybrid or PHEV for the next generation or longer. Unless the solid state batteries get really good and really cheap. To the point where you can have a realistic 1k or 2k mile range. That’s what you’ll need to go to places like the outback in Australia - you can literally be 1000+

I’m pretty confident Toyota has cracked the solid state battery. If Toyota says 2025 - then it’s already in a design locked vehicle and production tooling is either done or nearly completed. We’re just now seeing the first public version on the roads. It would be very rare for Toyota to have a 3-4 year out production
