Trump and his butt buddy Elon will have the NHTSA gone soon enough, don’t sweat it.

It was literally mentioned in the report as the reason researchers started studying building sink rates, which is explained in the article.

Still the most amazing dipshits driving these things around.

I’ve heard way more about how hybrids are ‘overly complex’ and ‘more things to fail’ in the past few years than I did in the previous 10, and mostly from EV evangelists.

I’d definitely heard about Prius getting individual battery cells replaced, but at that point, they’ve often outlasted a lot of other cars.

I love how 10-15 years ago all the naysayers were insufferable with their “Having both gas and electric motor is going to mean twice the trouble — I’ll never buy a hybrid” and “the batteries are going to cost $15,ooo to replace and you’ll be doing that after 5 or 6 years... you’ll have to be a moron to buy a hybrid.”

Pretty much every Toyota there is.

I wonder if anything made by Toyota is reliable?

You’re definitely not wrong. Tesla is far and away the most public ‘self driving’ system out there. Having said that, it’s also dangerous as shit, and they’ve sold it as the holy grail to people that can barely drive. The two times I’ve been in a tesla with someone who used it I was clawing at the door in fear. It

Not only cool with it but fucking ecstatic about it. Its all going to be a disaster.

Imagine being wealthy enough to buy yourself the government of the United States of America.

If you can tune the electric fake exhaust to just rev over and over any time it’s under 5mph, it should fit the needs of most v8 Charger owners I encounter. How it works for the older crowd and the v6 buyers, I’m not sure, but I’m not optimistic for them.

It’s not anywhere as good looking as the old one.

Olds did away with things like bright chrome trim, wire wheels and wood paneling” - So Oldsmobile managed to avoid two of the most extreme examples of Detroit’s tacky styling trends: (fake) wire wheels and (fake) wood sides.

Everything is dead at Tesla with Elon Musk name on it. I’d rather drive an 1959 Edsel.

Just recently I saw the aftermath of a refrigerator falling out the back of a pickup on a local 55mph road. Fortunately nobody was close behind. It was a mess. Generally I have more faith in a CDL holder to secure his load than some bozo who really should have just paid the delivery fee instead of trying to haul

Same. In Puerto Rico, I nearly got a refrigerator to the face when the pickup I was behind reached a steep hill. The fridge slid back, hit the tailgate, and briefly escaped the iron grip of gravity.  Fortunately, my refusal to be directly behind a truck carrying anything saved my bacon.

I refuse to be behind even pick ups with stuff in the bed. I’ve seen shit fly out too many times. Almost had a shovel take me out that flew off a landscapers trailer, absolutely terrifying.

Lumber trucks, logging trucks, trucks carrying drill pipe (lots of that in Central Alberta)... I hate being around all of them. They’re one bad decision or bad set of circumstances away from creating multiple impalements.

What always strikes me with these surveys is that Teslas are not there due to the “still love the car, though” type of cultish behaviour.
