So if they’d all been white and straight that wouldn’t have been political? Really? When anywhere between a third to a half of under 30's don’t identify as straight and 45% of the under 30 set are NOT white, a number that’s over 50% in New Mexico, you think whitewashing would be non-political?

The problem with the Deuce is Franco. His storyline and plot are boring. His acting is terrible and there is absolutely no reason for him to play two roles - can’t tell them apart and there’s no reason except his inflated ego. He’s not a good enough actor to pull it off. In fact, all the men in the show are boring.

oh god, everything about this woman was made by someone else: Face, tits, ass, image, reputation.

All she did - literally all she did - was sign a licensing royalty contract with Colourpop for a tube of lip gloss, after getting surgery to enhance her lips, and imply the kits were responsible. That’s it!She signed her name to the makeup they already produced. That’s the extent of her involvement.

Cole’s “walkabout” is a ludicrous proposal:

Also, most of the reviewers seem to miss it, but it is NOT a coincidence that Ben turned up at the conference. In the attack-at-the-office episode Alison's colleague brings her the papers and reminds her about the conference with Ben standing right there. The name of the conference is used and Alison confirms her

I feel like the show failed to underline what was really going on with Helen last season, and her character never recovered from that. It only jumped out to me in a recent rewatch: the reason she couldn’t let Noah go in S3 was because she didn’t know about Alison’s involvement in Scotty’s death. Helen thought that

They behave very well at movie night though!

And the raccoon walked away. Shit.

Human needs both arms and a windup to pitch raccoon down flight of stairs.

I think you accidentally went to the Great Lakes Medieval Faire down the road.

...and once again, I see those aborted fetus photos and think, “those don’t look human at all.” Which I think is the opposite of what they want me to think.

It’s opposite writing. Great writing tells you what happens and lets you infer how people feel. These examples tell you exactly how you should feel and forces you to guess what happened. The writers know they’re only supposed to do one of the two things but they keep guessing incorrectly.

Well, “Brock” was a pretty shitty name to begin with so, win-win?

I wonder if Michael Cera checks his stunt doubles backgrounds?

It’s like he doesn’t even acknowledge that he BROKE THE LAW by drinking. Dude you made a concious decision to drink underage, even tho it’s illegal, and you are responsible for the consequences. Peer pressure and party culture don’t excuse an adult over 18 from assaulting someone, and it’s illegal for you even to be

There’s something interesting —and interesting, in a morbid way— about reading these statements. Because beyond the wretchedness of victim-blaming, notice how Holtzclaw can’t stick to a narrative about his own actions? He can’t seem to say something as simple as “I was on the other side of town,” or “I did a search,

That sounds like a personal problem.

I think a lot of people don’t even think about WHY someone gets into sex work to begin with. It does not even occur to a lot of people all those underlying problematic causes.
