You realize there’s a reason “Follow the money” is a thing, right?
Why my companion feels the need to give a name to my feelings? Your cat is thinking.
Thatz not okay.
I hate this piece of shit, oh was that out loud?
Supreme and unwarranted confidence and a lack of self-awareness... those traits sound so familiar. Do you work in the WH?
Completely agree. No solution is perfect and enforcement in the past has been allowed to be racist and xenophobic as hell but these stories coming to light are increasingly the minority and are allowing important conversations to take place.
I agree on all those counts. Christians in many cases still have either official (such as School Assemblies) or unofficial advantages but those are getting closed off with this same legislation coming in as many of the ones left are just hangovers in old laws from the 20th century or earlier which are getting…
I mean I agree, forcing her to do something won’t help anything. So it goes.
They may have been shaped by it in the past but increasingly have no control over our society.
The niqab is not or ever has been a fashion dictated by Islam. Rather it is a holdover of ancient customs adopted to accommodate the beliefs of some but not all Muslim adherents.
I never realized how American I am until I got into a debate about the face veil with some European friends. I feel very strongly that people should be free to express their religious beliefs however they choose, even if I fundamentally disagree with their views. I am a feminist and also grew up in Saudi Arabia. I believe in personal freedkm to wear what you want but I think face veils cross the line. I think they are disrespectful and immigrants have to be able to assimilate to some extent. Keeping your face covered isolates a person and is an affront to the country that has…
If you look down a bit I raise that as well with our history of banning hoodies in stores and other locations so it’s easier to identify people and also the case of the terror sting being bungled when the suspect donned a Burqa to disguise themselves.
I wasn’t equating the two, more just pointing that outside of the religious garb banning argument that the idea of simply banning head coverings because of security concerns isn’t without precedent either.
Mate it’s the UK. If you can’t handle the 51 weeks of pissing rainstorms unaided then you’re in the wrong fucking country.
How is it possible to ban hoodies in a country that rejects umbrellas? Is the British stance: if you can’t survive soaking wet for 5 months you don’t deserve to live.?
