I can vividly remember, at the end of Moonraker, the character Jaws smiling at his new girlfriend and when she smiles back she's wearing braces.

Wonderful, and illuminating, article.

Hello My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

True story - I went to an early screening of Trainspotting in 1995 (In London). The film was an early edit, there was no music on the soundtrack but Damon Albarn was in the audience. I recall Danny Boyle and John Hodge talked for a bit. Hodge said he only writes movies because he wants to meet Bridget Fonda.

I guess I should probably try listening to this Future person - considering I'm not at all aware of who he is.

I know White Lightening didn't have caffeine but it sure seemed like it did.

Anybody from the UK here? I lived there 95-98 and the summer of 1997 was heavily fueled by White Lightening Cider. Is that still a thing? Four Loko seems similar.

Same. I preordered it last week and I've carefully listened to it twice - wanting to not hate it.

Sun Kil Moon 'Common As Light'? 😬

Plus you have a hard copy for down the road, many computers, phones and MP3 players later.

Better than Mortal Kombat?

Same

I'm completely caught up in this as well.

What? What's the Whills thing? I don't get it.

One of my best friends has been telling me that for years. He says the supposed dip in REM quality is a myth. I don't know REM well enough to formulate an opinion. I probably shouldn't have used them as an example in my post.

Yeah I know.

I forgot about Zooropa.

If U2 had just stopped after Achtung Baby all would be well with their legacy - they'd be seen as nearly flawless. Instead they dragged on and it all slipped away over the years just like The Rolling Stones and REM. Yet another reason why the Beatles are the best (band).

That's an interesting turn of phrase 'the indispensable Beatle' are you sure it's Paul? I ask that question even as I have a daughter named Stella (named after Stella McCartney). I also tried for a son named Dylan but that name wasn't allowed. I would need a few glasses of wine to decide which Beatle was indispensable…

I love that at least one of our heroes, maybe the only one, stayed true to who he was all the way through. Paul McCartney (whom I also love) would have done three magazine covers by now and would already be en route to Stockholm.
