Spending energy to transport something that is then used for energy can be a huge waste of that energy source. An island nation that can produce its own fuel has a huge benefit from simply removing the transportation aspect of getting fuel to there.

Quick reminder, Trump is 78 years old. His life has been luxury, failure and getting bailed out. He wouldn't release his college transcripts, has been accused multiple times of other taking his exams for him, and his business schooling is 50 years out of date. So even if Wharton did teach that, there's no guarantee A)…

They teach it as business school, sure. Where they don’t teach it is Robert E. Lee highschool in Bumfucksville N. Carolina, which provided the highest level of education most of the voters for these politicians received. So it will indeed be shocking to them when there aren’t suddenly millions more jobs available.

During the Covid shortages of 2020, Schneider Electric(Square D for you old heads) started building new capacity for US production.  They’re still not finished four years later.  This isn’t instantaneous.
