Granting that the film doesn’t have to exactly follow the source material, Cera just did not play Scott well. So maybe the casting was fine and it was more of the portrayal . Scott isn’t smarmy and douchey and missed the whole point of Scott, as a character.

Scott in the books is a terrible person but in a completely different way, if I remember correctly. Scott in the films is pretty completely unlikable whereas the in books he was less smarmy and douchey. 

You might like the books, honestly. Of course a series of books will have better characterizations and more time for details and developments than a film but it does give character to each....character...and you get a better understanding of why they are the way they are. The movie changes Ramona and Scott to somewhat…

Same for PT, but X360 for Scott Pilgrim.

Could’ve been great if they actually cast Scott Pilgrim correctly. Cera was absolutely the wrong actor for that role.
