I don't see why not.
I don't see why not.
I don't care for the colorization, but if that's what it takes to get a classic back onto prime time network television, I can live with it.
Great point. We hear so much about sitcoms needing time to find their way, but this show proves that it's possible for a comedy to begin immediately in top form.
By the time you get to the second half of season one, you'll want to binge watch the rest as quickly as possible.
Line of the Year: "NOT GREAT, BOB!"
Good job recognizing Southland here. "Chaos" was the single best episode of television I watched this year.
Without question, Sunday Night Football is the best football program in history. By far. The production is so fantastic, they even make blowouts a pleasure to watch.
Todd, I'm with you, Getting On absolutely belongs on the list.
Hell yes it was, this is a great choice.
Jeopardy! thread for Thur., Dec. 19 - Low-scoring game in which Jenna was in control most of the way by default, but all three players still had a shot going into this Final:
Because the column isn't really "What's On Tonight", it's really "What's On Tonight That We Cover and Anything Else We Feel Like Goofing On".
They have been showing promos for Enlisted during football, so it's not like they're totally not supporting it. I guess they just have no better spot for it now that Tuesday will be down to a single hour of sitcoms.
The early HIMYM finale does give them the chance to provide a big lead-in to the debut of Friends With Better Lives.
I noticed the Dads rerun this past Tuesday did much better than the rest of the Fox sitcom block. Weird.
It's going to be interesting to see how well the CBS Monday lineup does after HIMYM ends, especially since these changes are happening around the time that ratings start slipping in the spring.
It's true of mysteries, soap operas or any serialized show that's more driven by plot than characterization and atmosphere. For example, I don't have a lot riding on how Mad Men ends, because I enjoy spending time in that world, it's not about "what's gonna happen next".
On the WFMU website they have a shorter version of the show called "Best Show Gems" which is a good place to start, since the volume of material is a bit intimidating for newcomers.
Leno had Ted Cruz and George W. Bush on in back-to-back weeks, so he might be trying to give Fox News a run for its money.
In recent years, almost no one comments on the Wurster calls at all, so for new listeners they're probably thinking, "Who the hell was that Philly Boy Roy and why did Tom keep him on the line for 45 minutes?"
Tom had some aggravation to work out with A.V. Club after a Podmass reviewer absurdly stated that Best Show basically "writes itself", which led to him taking it out on the commenters as well.
