Great show, but Buffalo Bill was set in a TV station.
Great show, but Buffalo Bill was set in a TV station.
It's also a good character moment, suggesting that Les is such a devoted newsman that he can't report the letters until he actually sees them.
Other shows at least partly set in radio stations:
I wouldn't call this hiatus punitive, since Mindy will still get to air all its episodes in the same time slot during the regular season.
I think MST3K really destroyed the conventional wisdom that Ed Wood is the worst filmmaker of all time.
It's definitely more magical when they can take a movie that would be unwatchable on its own and turn it into something that can be re-watched almost endlessly.
Brings to mind the violent murder scene that was cut from Sidehackers, for which Crow had to bring the audience up to speed: "For those of you playing along at home, Rita is dead".
"…it's amazing what a difference it makes when Tom Servo breaks down and cries, versus Kevin Murphy."
The season 10 episodes tend to be vastly underrated and "Girl in Gold Boots" is at the top of that list.
Red Zone Cuba is really "MST3K: Advanced Studies". I would hesitate to recommend it to a newcomer to the series, but it's awesome for veterans who have learned to thrive off of the kind of pain only Coleman Francis can deliver.
Those are really fun films on their own, which kind of goes against the rule of the movies being "the worst we can find", but the guys just seemed energized by riffing on something truly entertaining for a change.
It's so hard to narrow it down to top picks, but easy to select my favorite genres:
I find that a lot of the movies from KTMA and the first CC season were pretty entertaining on their own, so the light riffing isn't a big problem for me.
Most of the B99 cast is really terrific (I say most because I'm still not crazy about Samberg or his character) and tonight's episode was the best of the series.
It moved back up to a 2.4, not exactly stellar numbers considering that the show started the season in the mid-4s.
No, it's not finished yet, but it's going to have to prove its worth when it returns.
The show has lost about 50% of its target audience from its debut, which is obviously very concerning. However, its ratings have shown signs of leveling and if they stay around where they are now, it's not going to be in trouble anytime soon.
"C'mon Stafford, just one more score to cover the spread, throw it to
Megatron…SHIT! Intercepted! Why do I bet on the Lions, maybe I really
am the stupidest bird on the planet."
Jeopardy! thread for Tue., Nov. 26
I wish it was just a week, it's really been the whole damn season. If a new Ken Jennings had come along back in September he'd still be going strong, that's for sure.
