Yet she still managed to wring some pathos out of the role while still being a selfish monster who couldn't allow Buck's death to be about anyone but her.

It's an accurate representation of how the legal system of the day viewed gender and parenting. IIRC the laws in New York were written explicitly favoring custody going to the mother absent some compelling interest to the contrary. It wasn't until relatively recently that the laws were re-written to remove the gender

I saw this first run in theaters and to this day I could not tell you why my parents took 11 year old me to see it. They also took 11 year old me to see All That Jazz in the theater too, which either makes them horrible parents or the best parents ever. My big takeaway from this film was a deep and enduring loathing

Aaaaand less than two dozen comments in before the first spoiler.

In fairness the "White Pine Bay, Town of Mystery" plots are always thoroughly ridiculous. Although I will always love "The Bateses join the community playhouse" because it gave us Norma Bates singing "Maybe This Time" which is everything.

James Whale didn't even want to direct Bride of Frankenstein because he feared being typecast as a horror director (and his next project after Bride was supposed to be Dracula's Daughter so he was right) and it's still a brilliant film, is how great a director James Whale was.

Just wrapped up For All the Tea In China: How England Stole the World's Favorite Drink and Changed History by Sarah Rose. Added to my wish list years ago based solely on her participation in a not-that-terrible reality show about gay guys and their best gal-pals. It was interesting although I feel like she struggled

My wife, Eleanor.

I am the reverse. I love his work up through Cry-Baby and can tolerate Serial Mom. Pecker and Cecil B. Demented are terrible and A Dirty Shame is unwatchable. Haven't read the hitch-hiking book yet but the one before that, Role Models, is fantastic.

It was explicitly stated that Bobby went through a European broker to make his plays.

Well I actually contributed to that article, I didn't just read it, and my research contradicts your stating as fact that the film was unavailable for decades after the assassination and your implication that it was because of the assassination. In fact, the film was withdrawn from circulation because circulating it

The film aired on television in 1965, less than two years after the assassination.

Amaury Nolasco is starring on NBC's better-than-it-has-a-right-to-be sitcom Telenovela. He and the rest of the male cast members get shirtless frequently, if you're into that sort of thing.

Another nun thread that starts with a bang but ends with a wimple.

It is explicitly stated on at least one occasion that latinum is the one substance that the replicator can't replicate. Which is about seventeen different kinds of stupid.

I'm looking forward to the casting of the gay but probably sexless Kevin Keller. For the network that so heavily targets the progressive youth market the CW has a terrible track record for developing LGBT characters with any level of characterization (or a sex life).

Satisfaction started out as a worthy attempt by USA to move away from the fluffy procedurals that were initially highly successful for them but which in recent years have hit diminishing returns and into more adult fare. In its way it along with Graceland serves as a bridge between the likes of White Collar and Mr.

Jimmy Smits.
