@cc: Oh yes it is silky smooth. I came from AOSPmod (vanilla 2.2) to Cyanogen 6.1 about 3 days ago, also on a Hero. AOSPmod is great too, my fav so far. Try it if you like BONE STOCK. The only thing different is the overclockable kernel.

Make sure to test a small area of w/e your writing on first. I've had dry erase markers that wiped off, but still left marks when viewed on an angle. For example, I used to write stuff on my bathroom mirror,and even though I wiped it off, you could still see what was written when the mirror fogged up.
