Yes, the highest profile games do tend to be FPS (Shoot-em-ups), but in general I know a lot of women gamers, and they tend to like Portal, Diablo, Western RPGs, MMOs. Many of the better games have stopped dictating the gender of your protagonist all together…

To be fair, Nintendoland had a lot of new ideas, just not new characters (Unless you count Monita). That's typical for Nintendo, the new ideas are implemented with current characters.
