I will say that he actually played a pretty subdued character on Silicon Valley. I was never a huge fan of his shtick (I knew him mostly from Doug Loves Movies when I still listened to that), but the character he played on SV was not that. I’d recommend giving it a shot if you like Mike Judge and everyone else…

I actually don’t know that I know any of Merle’s stuff. I’m definitely familiar with him in a pop culture kind of way, but I can’t point to any of his music. I will check it out for sure.

Outside of Johnny Cash and maybe some Waylon Jennings, Sturgill Simpson is the only Country music I will really listen to. He seems to transcend the genre and is an all around great musician. I can’t recommend his music highly enough.
